Wolf Trax

Wolf Trax brings a thick, dance-floor-ready pocket to Austin’s blues-rock circuit, mixing electric blues tradition with funk, soul and plenty of guitar-driven muscle. Led by frontman Josh Field on vocals and harmonica, the band is built around Brandon Carroll’s expressive guitar work and bassist Tim Hudgeons’ low-end groove.

The group digs into the bones of classic artists such as Muddy Waters, Junior Wells and Albert Collins, but this is not some stiff blues-history exercise. Wolf Trax plays the material with modern punch, stretching familiar forms into greasy funk rhythms, hard-charging blues-rock and loose, crowd-responsive jams. Original songs sit alongside carefully chosen covers, giving their sets the feel of a working band that understands both the tradition and the party.

Wolf Trax is at its best when the rhythm section locks down, the harmonica starts barking and the guitar gets a little dangerous. It is rugged, groove-heavy Austin blues made for moving bodies—not quietly admiring technique from the back of the room.
