About

Troy Stone is an Austin songwriter, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist whose music rides the line between outlaw country, Red Dirt, Americana and rhythm-and-blues grit. He played his first show at Austin’s La Zona Rosa at just 13, then spent the next several decades sharpening a road-tested sound across clubs, dance halls and listening rooms throughout Texas and roughly half the continental United States.

Stone previously fronted The Hill Country Gentlemen and later Troy Stone & the Spent Shells, releasing albums including The Hill Country Gentlemen, Don’t Belong Here and Near and Far. His fourth record, Painted Sky, is slated for 2026. Along the way, he has shared stages with Turnpike Troubadours, Whiskey Myers, David Allan Coe, Afroman and other artists well outside a single genre lane.

These days, Stone primarily performs solo, creating a surprisingly full one-man-band sound with vocals, guitar, harmonica and foot percussion. His songs carry a back-porch warmth but still hit with plenty of muscle—smartly written Texas storytelling, bluesy edges and enough live-wire energy to keep a barroom locked in.
