Tommy Howard Trio

Tommy Howard is an Austin jazz guitarist and a mainstay of the local scene for more than fifteen years, performing with artists such as Ephraim Owens, Tony Campise, Butch Miles, and André Hayward. Originally from San Antonio, he leads trio and organ-trio projects that favor classic clean jazz guitar tone, original compositions, and deep-pocket rhythm sections. His debut album Storybook presents eight originals bookended by hip-hop-tinged Prologue and Epilogue, recorded with bassist Daniel Durham and drummer Brandon Guerra—two of Austin’s first-call players. Live sets at Monks Jazz Club and Jazz, TX document both the Tommy Howard Trio and Organ Trio formats, spanning standards, blues, and modern material. Howard’s approach emphasizes patience, composition, and improvisation over flash, with a tone rooted in traditional jazz guitar. Storybook is available on Bandcamp and iTunes; booking and updates run through tommyhoward.com and Instagram @tomtguitar.
