The Spazmatics

The Spazmatics are a high-energy new wave and pop tribute act known for turning the biggest hits of the 1980s and 1990s into a full-scale party. The Austin-based Texas lineup has been a familiar part of the city’s entertainment scene since 2004, combining polished musicianship with synchronized dance moves, comedy and an exaggerated nerd persona inspired by classic ’80s movies.

Dressed in taped glasses, bow ties, plaid pants and pocket protectors, the band leans fully into the character while performing recognizable songs from the era’s biggest pop, rock and new wave artists. Their shows are built around audience participation, nonstop energy and a setlist designed to keep the crowd singing and dancing.

The Spazmatics concept includes several regional lineups across the country, with the Texas group carrying the nationally recognized production and style into its own performances. More than a standard cover band, The Spazmatics deliver a theatrical celebration of retro music, fashion and pop culture.
