The Soulphonics

The Soulphonics are an Austin band that plays raw, hook-heavy American garage rock and roll inspired by the punch and immediacy of 1960s AM radio. Their songs are typically short, tightly arranged and built around memorable melodies, driving rhythms and a deliberately no-frills approach that favors energy over extended instrumental showmanship.

The band’s material moves between vocal-driven rock songs and instrumentals, with lyrics exploring love, heartbreak, life and mortality. Their 2011 debut, The Dynamic Sounds of The Soulphonics, featured 13 original songs alongside three obscure 1960s covers selected from the group’s much larger live repertoire. They later released Heart Full of Soulphonics in 2014, further developing their blend of garage rock, vintage soul, rhythm and blues and early rock-and-roll influences.
