THE RASMUS

The Rasmus is a Finnish rock band formed in Helsinki in 1994 while its members were still in school—founded around frontman Lauri Ylönen with bassist Eero Heinonen and early partners before the long-running core with drummer Aki Hakala. Best known worldwide for the 2003 smash “In the Shadows,” they fuse alternative and pop rock with gothic melodrama and dark, melodic hooks. Global sales exceed several million albums, with hundreds of thousands sold in Finland alone and a long list of domestic and international awards.

Later chapters include continuous European touring, lineup change with guitarist Emilia “Emppu” Suhonen joining after Pauli Rantasalmi’s departure, and representing Finland at Eurovision 2022 with “Jezebel.” Recent work includes the album Weirdo. Live, Ylönen’s dramatic vocals and polished rock dynamics define the show. Expect “In the Shadows”-era anthems and modern Finnish alt-rock when The Rasmus hits festival and theater stages.
