THE OBSESSED

The Obsessed is the pioneering American doom and hard-rock band led by guitarist-vocalist Scott “Wino” Weinrich, formed in Potomac/Rockville, Maryland, in the late 1970s after an early Warhorse incarnation. Drawing on Black Sabbath weight, Stooges grit, and underground hard rock, they became a foundational force in U.S. doom—slow, crushing riffs, Wino’s raw bark, and a power-trio attack that influenced generations of stoner and sludge bands.

Wino’s parallel history includes landmark runs with Saint Vitus (including Born Too Late), plus Spirit Caravan, The Hidden Hand, Shrinebuilder, and solo work. The Obsessed’s archived and Hellhound-era material, ’90s albums, and modern returns (including Sacred and later Gilded Sorrow-era activity) keep the project a live institution on the doom circuit. Expect Sabbath-born doom, hard-rock swagger, and Wino’s lifetime of heavy music when The Obsessed hit club and festival stages.
