The Mountain Grass Unit

The Mountain Grass Unit are a Birmingham-born bluegrass quartet who treat tradition like a launchpad—mandolin fire, stacked harmonies, and jam-band stretch without losing the melody. Drury Anderson, Luke Black, Sam Wilson, and Josiah Nelson grew the band from childhood fretted-instrument lessons into IBMA Momentum Band of the Year heat, festival bills, and a Grand Ole Opry path.

Sets swing from originals to Hartford and Billy Strings–adjacent energy: tight picking, fiddle leads, and bass that keeps the floor moving. The Paste full session and the Appalachian Smoke era put the live proof on record. Expect Americana roots with country storytelling and folk discipline—young enough to risk, sharp enough to land every break.
