T. Graham Brown

About

T. Graham Brown is a powerhouse country and soul singer whose booming, gravel-edged voice made him one of Nashville’s most recognizable vocalists of the 1980s. A Georgia native, Brown broke through with I Tell It Like It Used to Be and followed it with major country hits including “Hell and High Water,” “Don’t Go to Strangers” and “Darlene.”

Brown never fit neatly into polished Nashville country. His records pull heavily from Southern soul, gospel, blues and R&B, and he sings with the kind of full-throttle intensity that can turn a country ballad into something closer to a revival meeting.

His career has stretched well beyond his original run on the charts, with decades of touring, recording and collaborations keeping him connected to traditional-country audiences. In 2024, Brown was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry, a major career milestone for an artist whose unmistakable voice has been part of country music for more than four decades.
