Stephen Summer Trio

The Stephen Summer Trio is the Austin contemporary jazz unit led by drummer Stephen Summer—credits with Kirk Whalum, Beto y los Fairlanes, Tomas Ramirez, and The Brew—featuring Matt Russell on piano and Jon Blondell on bass. Elephant Room early sets deliver polished standards and fresh interpretations with pocket-first drums and listening-room swing; the trio sits in the same basement lineage as ATX’s working jazz aristocracy without pure freestyle chaos. For rooms that want tight trio conversation after work, not a student jam open-mic.

Expect contemporary Austin jazz when the Stephen Summer Trio hits the stage—Whalum/Beto-tested drums, not a random open-mic Stephen.
