SIX FEET UNDER

Six Feet Under is an American death metal band from Tampa, Florida, formed in 1993. What began as a side project for Cannibal Corpse vocalist Chris Barnes with Obituary guitarist Allen West became Barnes’s full-time focus after he left Cannibal Corpse in 1995, coinciding with the debut album Haunted. The band is known for groove-heavy, mid-tempo death metal often labeled death ’n’ roll—filthy riffs, physical force over pure speed, and Barnes’s guttural vocals (later expanding into his signature high pig-squeal textures).

Across a long Metal Blade catalog—Haunted through Killing for Revenge, Nightmares of the Decomposed, and the ongoing Graveyard Classics covers series—Six Feet Under has been one of Soundscan’s top-selling U.S. death metal acts. The current tour-honed lineup has included Barnes with guitarists Jack Owen (ex-Cannibal Corpse) and Ray Suhy, bassist Jeff Hughell, and a rotating powerhouse drum chair, delivering a unit built for clubs and package tours.

Expect groove-centric death metal, horror-and-violence lyrical themes, and a set drawn from three decades of death ’n’ roll classics and newer material.
