About
Save Ferris is an Orange County, California ska-punk band formed circa 1995 and named for Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Fronted by Monique Powell, they became a third-wave ska staple: horn-driven bounce, pop hooks, and punk energy that broke from underground SoCal rooms to national radio. Early members came out of Los Pantalones; the Introducing Save Ferris EP (1996, Starpool) sold strongly, led to a Grammy showcase for unsigned bands, and a deal with Epic Records.
It Means Everything (1997) delivered mainstream heat—including their hit cover of “Come On Eileen”—with constant touring and TV/film placements; by 1999 the sound edged further into pop-punk before a hiatus. The band returned in the 2010s, issuing the Checkered Past EP (2017) and continuing as a Powell-led live act. Expect checkered-past ska-punk, horns, and sing-along choruses when Save Ferris hits revival and club bills.
