About
Rodarius Marcell Green (born 27 August 1998 in St. Petersburg, Florida), known as Rod Wave, is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter who blends soulful melody with trap storytelling. Raised in St. Pete after his parents split in elementary school, he sang from a young age, graduated Lakewood High School in 2017, and built an online following with Hunger Games mixtapes before signing to Alamo Records.
Breakout single “Heart On Ice” (2019) went viral on YouTube and TikTok and cracked the Billboard Hot 100, launching a streak of emotionally raw projects—PTSD, Pray 4 Love, SoulFly, Beautiful Mind, Nostalgia, and more—that made him one of the defining melodic-rap and soul-trap voices of the late 2010s and 2020s. His writing centers heartbreak, family pressure, street survival, and soft vulnerability delivered over mournful, radio-ready production.
His live reputation is cathartic: soft-sung hooks, harsh rap turns, and stadium-scale tour production for a generation raised on streaming confessionals. Expect soul-trap ballads, heartbreak anthems, and high-emotion arena energy when Rod Wave plays major Texas dates and outdoor amphitheater bills.
