Roadhouse Band

The Roadhouse Band is an Austin-area blues-rock outfit built around singer-songwriter and guitarist Jay Wood. Texas born and raised, Wood works the Central Texas circuit with a sound steeped in electric blues, classic rock and the rough-edged roots music that has always played well in Hill Country bars.

The band’s sets mix original material with classic and modern blues covers, drawing especially from the deep guitar traditions of Buddy Guy, Albert King, B.B. King and Muddy Waters. That influence comes through in the group’s muscular guitar tone, soulful vocals and no-frills rhythm—a working roadhouse sound designed for dancing, drinking and letting the amps breathe.

Wood performs in several configurations, including solo shows, the Roadhouse Duo and the full Roadhouse Band. The larger lineup brings more rock-and-roll weight to his blues foundation, giving familiar songs a lively, barroom-ready kick without sanding away their grit.
