Ritchie and Rosie

Richie & Rosie are the old-time duo of banjo player Richie Stearns and fiddler Rosie Newton, two deeply respected musicians whose work draws from Appalachian string-band traditions while feeling vivid, loose and alive in the present. Both have long roots in traditional American music: Stearns is widely known for his distinctive clawhammer banjo style and his work with the Horse Flies, while Newton has built a reputation as a versatile fiddler, singer and multi-instrumentalist with a deep feel for old-time, folk and roots music.

Together, Richie & Rosie make music that feels both joyful and intimate. Their sound is built on banjo, fiddle, close musical interplay and an obvious love for traditional songs, but it never comes off as academic or museum-like. Instead, their performances have warmth, swing, humor and a handmade spirit that keeps the music feeling fresh. Whether playing dance tunes, old ballads or offbeat string-band material, Richie & Rosie bring a timeless American roots sound to the stage with personality, skill and heart.
