About
Red Young is the Fort Worth–raised Hammond B-3 organist, pianist, arranger, and Austin Jazz Society Hall of Fame force—toured and recorded with Sonny & Cher, Eric Burdon, Linda Ronstadt, Dolly Parton, Tanya Tucker, Freddy Fender, and more before planting full-time roots in Austin clubs. Tenor Madness is his high-octane hard-bop / soul-jazz project: Young’s organ and drums locked with two tenor saxophones in direct tribute to classic horn battles (think Coltrane/Rollins lineage energy). Elephant Room, Monks Jazz, Continental Club Gallery, and Parker Jazz nights keep several-nights-a-week residencies; Black Red Black and organ trios/quartets fill the rest of the calendar.
redyoung.com tracks dates. Expect Hammond-led tenor battles and soul-jazz fire when Red Young TENOR MADNESS hits the stage—Austin B-3 royalty, not a mild dinner-piano set.
