Rebecca Patek

Rebecca Patek brings a little wit, a little darkness and a whole lot of fiddle to Austin’s roots-music scene. Her sound pulls from old-time country, bluegrass, folk and Americana, but it never feels overly polished or overly precious.

A longtime Austin player, Patek is equally comfortable leading a song, slipping into a harmony or sawing away on fiddle while a dance floor starts moving. Her writing has an easy, lived-in quality—funny in one breath, lonesome in the next—with the kind of rural storytelling that feels right at home in a Texas honky-tonk.

She’s played with Melissa Carper, Sad Daddy, Buffalo Gals Band and other roots-heavy Austin projects, building a reputation as one of those musicians who can make a room feel instantly warmer, stranger and more alive.
