Preston Hester

Preston Hester is an Austin singer-songwriter whose music sits between stripped-down country and acoustic folk, carried by a deep voice and a direct, unvarnished writing style. His songs lean into friendship, uncertainty, perseverance and the pull of chasing a creative life, favoring honest storytelling over polished Nashville formulas.

Hester has been building his name through Austin’s songwriter circles, open mics and listening-room showcases, including appearances at the Cactus Cafe. A 2026 showcase review described his performance as raw and simple, with thoughtful lyrics, steady acoustic guitar and a quiet presence that held the room’s attention. He also performs regularly around Central Texas, both on his own and alongside other local songwriters.

His sets are intimate and song-focused, giving the lyrics and lower-register vocals room to land. Rather than chasing a loud or heavily produced sound, Hester works in the older Texas songwriter tradition, where a strong line, a believable story and an acoustic guitar are enough to carry the night.
