POOLBOY is Norman, Oklahoma garage rock—formed in 2013 and still the kind of DIY three-piece that treats Guestroom Records and Norman Music Festival like home base. Facebook and the Norman Music Festival page name Sean Barker, Michael Loveland, and John Calvin; the OK Gazette clocked the debut EP Soda Kids at under six minutes of capricious, golden-era garage heat. The Oklahoman covered the later self-titled LP, vinyl on the shelf next to the local boxes.

They roll into Austin the same way Oklahoma garage bands always have: Prekindle bills that spell the hometown in the title—POOLBOY (Norman, OK) with GMP and All Fours at Hole in the Wall. Expect short songs, loud amps, and zero interest in pretending the room is larger than it is. Twelve years in, POOLBOY still sound like Norman—high energy, local-first, and built for floors that still book three Oklahoma bands on a Saturday.
