About
Phillip LaDon Phillips Jr. (born September 20, 1990, Albany, Georgia; raised in Leesburg) is an American singer-songwriter who won American Idol’s eleventh season in 2012. His coronation single “Home” became the best-selling Idol winner’s single and a multi-platinum folk-rock anthem that still defines his live sets. He learned guitar as a teen on family karaoke and classic-rock riffs, formed an acoustic band with relatives, and left the family pawn-shop grind for the Idol audition that launched a national career.
Beyond “Home,” Phillips has released reflective pop-rock and folk albums aimed at grown-up storytelling rather than reality-TV nostalgia, including later projects such as Drift Back and the Let’s Go Far EP/tour cycle. On stage he is a guitar-forward songwriter: acoustic grit, big choruses, and a road-worn band sound. Expect “Home” plus newer material when Phillip Phillips hits theaters and outdoor stages on U.S. headline runs.
