About
Paul Cauthen is the East Texas “Big Velvet” baritone—Tyler roots, Church of Christ choir training from his grandfather, and a fire-breathing solo run after Americana duo Sons of Fathers. Solo debut My Gospel (2016) announced gospel-country grit; Room 41 (2019), written living out of Dallas’s Belmont Hotel room 41, delivered chaotic anthem Cocaine Country Dancing and white-knuckle hotel-room autobiography. Later cycles Country Coming Down, Black on Black, and Book of Paul keep rhinestone swagger, classic-country grit, and theatrical rapture packing theaters. Rolling Stone–praised as one of country’s most eccentric new voices, he still bets on himself as outlaw provocateur rather than soft radio wallpaper.
Expect booming baritone country and Cocaine Country Dancing heat when Paul Cauthen hits the stage—East Texas Big Velvet, not a quiet coffeehouse crooner.
