About
Nonpoint (often stylized NONPOINT) is an American heavy metal and nu-metal band from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, formed in 1997 by vocalist Elias Soriano and drummer Robb Rivera. Emerging from the late-’90s South Florida scene, they mixed hard rock, groove metal, rap-metal energy, and bilingual firepower into a dynamic that stood out on early-2000s package tours with Sevendust, Linkin Park, Staind, and peers who defined that radio-rock moment.
Major-label era Statement (2000) cracked the Billboard 200 with “What a Day”; Development and Recoil followed, the latter featuring their muscular Phil Collins cover “In the Air Tonight” (later tied to Miami Vice). Decades on—through labels including MCA/Lava, Razor & Tie, Metal Blade, and independent releases—the core of Soriano and Rivera has held with a revolving guitar and bass cast. Albums like The Miracle, X, and ongoing new material keep them a touring staple for nu-metal nostalgia and modern hard-rock bills.
Expect groove-heavy alternative metal, call-and-response live energy, and catalog hits from Statement through the 2020s when Nonpoint hits Texas rock and metal packages.
