Nice Strong Arm

Nice Strong Arm is an Austin-born indie/noise-rock band of the late-1980s underground—Kevin Thomson (guitar/vocals), Jason Asnes (bass/vocals), and Jeff Hoskins (drums)—that cut its teeth opening for Sonic Youth, Mudhoney, My Bloody Valentine, and White Zombie alongside local peers like Ed Hall. After an improbable one-show run that impressed Homestead Records’ Gerard Cosloy, they signed in 1986 and released critically noted LPs while touring the U.S. college circuit, later based in New York with industrial-noise and goth-tinged showmanship over song structure.

A 2020s reunion brings first live dates in 30+ years, including an Austin homecoming at 29th Street Ballroom. Bandcamp and Instagram @nicestrongarm track the return. Expect dark indie rock and Homestead-era noise when Nice Strong Arm hits club stages again.
