New Strangers

New Strangers are a three-piece post-punk band from Austin—Kyle Carpenter on vocals and guitar, Benton Kaufman on bass, Nick Stout on drums—built for rooms that still prefer wiry guitars and short songs over soft-focus indie. Tiger Bomb Promo and their own Bandcamp page (newstrangers1) frame the catalog in plain terms: Cold Shoulders, Shave The Yard, Like You Say, tapes at End of an Ear, booking through newstrangersaustin@gmail.com.

They share bills with similarly unfussy Austin acts—s u n g u i l t, Brian Brian Brian—and post the next Hole in the Wall date the way local bands always have: Instagram first, flyers second. Live, the pitch is post-punk economy: bass that locks, drums that refuse to fill every bar, guitars that cut. New Strangers aren’t chasing a national narrative; they’re stocking the Austin club calendar with a three-piece that sounds like it was recorded two blocks from the venue.
