Milan Moorman Quartet

Milan Moorman is an Austin-based jazz trumpeter and flugelhorn player who studied trumpet, composition, and jazz at Mount Hood Community College in Oregon (mid-’80s) before cruise-ship orchestra years and a permanent landing in the Texas scene. After long stretches as a sideman he began leading his own groups—favorites at Elephant Room, Monks Jazz Club, River Sun, Geraldine’s, and Hill Country rooms like Brass Hall—with quartets and trios built from Austin’s strongest players. His sound leans on classic trumpet masters: control, melodic honesty, and finesse rather than pure high-note flash; venue copy and milanmoormanmusic.com stress pedigree stories (including Dizzy Gillespie and Joe Williams associations) alongside a working-band professionalism that makes sets both intimate and swinging.

milanmoormanmusic.com and @milanmoorman post dates. Expect elegant trumpet-led jazz when the Milan Moorman Quartet hits the stage—Austin straight-ahead warmth, not a student recital or freestyle jam night.
