Micky and The Motorcars

Micky & the Motorcars are a Texas-based country-rock band with deep roots in the Red Dirt and Americana scenes. Led by Idaho-raised brothers Micky and Gary Braun, the group relocated to Austin and built its reputation the old-fashioned way—years on the road, packed Texas dance halls and songs that sound better the louder the band gets.

Their music mixes country storytelling with rock ’n’ roll muscle: ringing guitars, rough-edged harmonies and songs about busted relationships, restless nights and life on the highway. Records such as Careless, Naive and Hearts From Above helped establish the Motorcars as regulars on the Texas music circuit, with favorites including “Long Enough to Leave,” “Carolina Morning” and “Raise My Glass.”

The Braun brothers also come from serious musical stock—their brothers Willy and Cody lead Reckless Kelly. But Micky & the Motorcars have carved out their own lane: less polished Nashville country, more barroom energy and road-tested Texas rock.
