About

Melanie Adele Martinez (born 1995 in Astoria, Queens; raised on Long Island) is an American singer, songwriter, and visual artist of Dominican and Puerto Rican heritage. She first drew national attention as a teen on The Voice (2012), then signed to Atlantic and released the Dollhouse EP before fully launching her conceptual Cry Baby universe—a character-driven world that turned childhood imagery into dark, theatrical pop.

Her 2015 debut Cry Baby—certified multi-platinum—reworked domestic and schoolyard symbols into songs about vulnerability, family conflict, and toxic romance, with videos she directed and styled herself. Follow-ups K-12 (2019, with a companion film), PORTALS (2023), and later work including HADES continue the high-concept storytelling, topping alternative charts and filling arenas with full visual production. Hits like “Pity Party,” “Dollhouse,” and later-era singles made her a defining alt-pop figure for a generation raised on streaming and visual albums.

Expect pastel-goth theatrical pop, concept-album storytelling, and full visual world-building when Melanie Martinez tours major U.S. markets including Texas.
