Max Robertson and Josef Pelletier are Austin musicians who bring a rootsy, string-driven touch to classic jazz, swing and instrumental standards. Robertson is a versatile guitarist and mandolin player whose background stretches across gypsy jazz, bluegrass, Western swing, Americana and country. He has performed with Austin roots outfit The Gumption and spent years working in bands built around acoustic interplay and old-school picking.

Pelletier is an experienced upright and electric bassist who previously worked in New York before becoming part of Austin’s jazz, swing and roots community. His local credits include Soul Wagon, the Modern Day Troubadours and the Waller Creek Vipers, giving him a deep feel for vintage grooves and dance-floor rhythm.

Together, Robertson and Pelletier keep things lean and conversational. Their duo performances favor jazz standards, swing tunes and relaxed instrumental favorites, with Robertson’s nimble fretwork playing against Pelletier’s warm, steady low end.
