About

Marco Antonio Solís Sosa (born 29 December 1959 in Ario de Rosales, Michoacán, Mexico)—known as El Buki—is one of the defining voices of modern Latin pop and grupero. He began performing at age six with his cousin Joel as Los Hermanitos Solís, then co-founded Los Bukis in 1975 as lead vocalist, guitarist, and chief songwriter. For nearly two decades the band became a continental force across Mexico, Central America, and the U.S. Latino market; after the group dissolved in the mid-1990s, Solís launched a solo career with En Pleno Vuelo (1996) and a long Fonovisa and Universal Music Latino catalog of romantic ballads and regional Mexican crossovers.

Solo landmarks include chart-dominating albums such as Trozos de Mi Alma, Más de Mi Alma, Tu Amor o Tu Desprecio, No Molestar, and Gracias Por Estar Aquí, plus enduring hits like “Si No Te Hubieras Ido,” “O Me Voy o Te Vas,” and “Más Que Tu Amigo.” He has earned five Latin Grammy Awards, multiple Billboard Latin Music and Lo Nuestro honors, a Hollywood Walk of Fame star (2010), Billboard Latin Music Hall of Fame induction, and Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year recognition (2022). He also voiced Ernesto de la Cruz in the Spanish-language version of Pixar’s Coco.

Expect grand romantic balladry, grupero roots, and a repertoire that still fills arenas from Mexico City to U.S. Latino markets—including major Austin-area and Texas dates when El Buki comes through.
