Mad Cowboys

The Mad Cowboys are a longtime Austin band known for mixing rock, blues, soul, country and laid-back yacht-rock favorites into an unpredictable, good-humored live show. The group describes its sound as the “bluesy soul of stoned Dead Beatles,” an appropriately loose label for a repertoire that moves between classic covers, deep cuts and original material without staying inside one genre.

Built around seasoned musicianship and an easygoing connection with the audience, The Mad Cowboys have maintained one of Austin’s most enduring live-music residencies, reportedly performing it for more than 25 years. Their staying power was recognized when the residency received a nomination for Best Music Residency at the 2026 Austin Music Awards.
