Lola Tried

Lola Tried are an Austin rock band led by singer-guitarist Lauren Burton, whose sharp, personal writing gives the group its center. Formed in 2016, the band grew out of Burton’s solo material after guitarist Ray Garza heard the songs and imagined a full band behind them. What followed was a loud, melodic mix of punk, power pop and indie rock—crunchy guitars, urgent rhythms, and lyrics that are funny, frustrated, and emotionally exposed.

Their first EP, Popsicle Queen, arrived in 2017, followed by the self-titled full-length Lola Tried in 2018 and the Renvers EP in 2021. Songs such as “Bummertown,” “San Marcos,” “Pulling Teeth,” and “Don’t Care at All” pair catchy hooks with restless energy. Over time Burton has brought less-finished ideas into the room and let the band shape songs together—expanding the sound without losing the directness, volume, and personality that made the early records connect.
