Kelela - new avatar

Kelela Mizanekristos (born June 4, 1983, Washington, D.C.; raised in Maryland) is an American singer who fuses alternative R&B with progressive club electronics—second-generation Ethiopian American, jazz-café roots, LA/London base. She broke through with the 2013 mixtape Cut 4 Me (Fade to Mind / Night Slugs orbit), the Hallucinogen EP (2015), and critically acclaimed debut album Take Me Apart (2017), then returned after a hiatus with Raven (2023).

The listing “Kelela - new avatar” points at her New Avatar era: a third-album cycle that folds guitar and indie-rock memory into her r&b / alternative / club “holy trinity,” still rooted in diva R&B and dance-floor space. Warp Records–era work and live shows balance bedroom intimacy with club architecture. Expect futurist R&B and electronic soul when Kelela hits theaters and festival stages.
