Jonny Lurie

Jonny Lurie is an Austin-based guitarist, singer-songwriter, bassist and producer whose music moves easily between groove-heavy instrumentals and thoughtful lyrical songwriting.

A graduate of the University of North Texas music program, Lurie has developed a fluid guitar style shaped by rock, funk, blues, reggae, surf, Latin music and improvisation.

His solo performances often use live looping, electric guitar, vocals and programmed rhythms to create a full-band sound from the stage, while his expanded lineup brings the songs to life as a trio or four-piece group.

Lurie’s catalog includes the albums One Track Mind, End and Begin and Cowboys and Astronauts. His songs balance melodic guitar work with warm vocals, rhythmic experimentation and arrangements that can shift from laid-back and atmospheric to energetic and danceable.

Tracks such as “Daytime Lovers,” “Barely a Person,” “Honey Hills” and “Cowboys and Astronauts” show the range of an artist who is comfortable writing traditional songs while also exploring instrumental textures and extended grooves.
