Johnny McGowan's Rugged Gents

Johnny McGowan’s Rugged Gents play honky-tonk like the interstate still belongs to truckers and every dance floor needs a two-step.

McGowan leads the Austin outfit with twangy guitar, a weathered country voice and enough road-house energy to make the room feel like 1966 again.

The Rugged Gents pull from classic Texas dance-hall country, hillbilly swing and hard-driving truck-stop tunes, keeping the songs loose, loud and built for moving.

This isn’t polished pop-country—it’s hot guitar, cold-beer music and a band that knows exactly what to do with a crowded honky-tonk floor.
