John Arthur Martinez
Country · Americana · Songwriter
About
Born in Austin and raised in the Texas Hill Country, John Arthur Martinez has spent decades turning borderland rhythms, dance-hall country and finely cut storytelling into a sound that is unmistakably his own. He became nationally known as the runner-up on the first season of Nashville Star, but Martinez had already logged years on Texas stages before television came calling.
His music moves easily between traditional country, Americana, Western swing and Tex-Mex, carried by a warm, seasoned voice that feels equally at home on a heartfelt ballad or a lively roadhouse number. Martinez’s 2004 album Lone Starry Night reached the country charts, while songs such as “Home Made of Stone” helped introduce his Hill Country style to a broader audience.
Based in Marble Falls, Martinez remains closely connected to the Austin-area music community while touring throughout Texas and internationally. His extensive catalog reflects a working songwriter who values melody, cultural roots and lived experience over passing Nashville trends. Onstage, he brings an easy rapport and veteran confidence that can only be earned through thousands of miles and countless performances. John Arthur Martinez is not simply a survivor of the Texas country circuit; he is one of its most dependable and authentic voices.
