Jeff Lofton Quintet

Jeff Lofton is an Austin jazz trumpeter and composer—Grammy Recording Academy member and two-time SXSW Austin Music Awards winner—born in Germany, raised in South Carolina, and long a cornerstone of the East Austin / club jazz circuit. Straight-ahead and bebop of the ’50s–’60s are home base: Club 40, Club 1808, Victory Grill lineage, Elephant Room CD-release nights, Monks Jazz midweeks, and One World Theater–scale stages. NPR affiliate KUTX and Texas Music Museum coverage note Miles Davis–era comparisons alongside original writing; 2026 album ATX Rhythm (third with his current label push) is framed as a love letter to adopted Texas, while long-running Miles tribute sets keep hard-bop vocabulary sharp.
