Jay Wood

Jay Wood is a Central Texas singer, guitarist and bandleader whose music is grounded in blues, Southern rock and the rough-edged sound of a neighborhood roadhouse. Performing solo and with Jay Wood & The Roadhouse Band, he brings together blues-driven guitar, familiar rock influences and an easygoing stage presence suited to patios, icehouses and late-night barrooms.

With the full band, Wood leans into a heavier electric sound built around gritty guitar work, steady grooves and the loose energy of musicians playing directly to the room. Local show listings have described Jay Wood & The Roadhouse Band as delivering “pure Central Texas blues,” while his solo appearances strip the music down to its essentials and put more attention on the songs and vocals.

Jay Wood’s shows are straightforward and unpretentious, mixing blues, acoustic rock and Southern-rock flavor without trying to smooth away the grit. Whether he is leading the Roadhouse Band or playing a more intimate solo set, the focus stays on live guitar, a strong groove and the kind of Texas barroom music that feels best with a cold drink and a crowd ready to settle in for the night.
