James Moritz

James Moritz is an Austin-born singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist working the hazy borderlands between cosmic country, Americana and rock & roll.

His songs have a loose, lived-in Texas feel—part honky-tonk, part indie rock, with enough twang to keep one boot planted firmly in Austin.

His own releases are tagged across cosmic country, Americana, rock and indie rock.

Moritz has spent years woven into the Austin scene, playing bass and singing backing vocals with Mayeux & Broussard, Kathryn Legendre and Garrett T. Capps, while building his own catalog as a songwriter and frontman.

Mayeux & Broussard describe their sound as gritty Texas country and swampy rock & roll, which gives you a pretty good idea of the musical neighborhood Moritz comes from.

His solo work includes “Tear It Up,” “Happy as Can Be,” the Something Pretty project and Live at the White Horse in Austin, Texas. The full Something Pretty album arrived with material recorded at Signal Hill in Dripping Springs.
