Hunter Walkup

Hunter Walkup is an Austin-born guitarist, singer and songwriter who plays a hard-driving mix of blues, rock, funk and soul.

Raised in a city where guitar music is part of the landscape, Walkup has developed a style that draws from classic Texas blues while leaving room for heavier rock grooves, loose improvisation and a little funk underneath it all.

He performs both as a solo artist and with a full band, adjusting easily between stripped-down sets and louder, more electric shows. Walkup’s live performances center on expressive guitar work, soulful vocals and the kind of extended playing that feels right at home in an Austin club.

He has appeared at local rooms including Friends Bar, the Skylark Lounge, Antone’s, Valhalla and Mama Dearest, along with regular appearances at blues jams around town.

For anyone who still likes live music built around a real player, a working band and a loud guitar, Hunter Walkup delivers the goods without overcomplicating it.
