Guy Forsyth

Guy Forsyth is one of the unmistakable voices of Austin music—a powerhouse singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose work runs through Texas blues, roots rock, folk, gospel and old-time American music.

After arriving in Austin in 1990, Forsyth built his reputation through fiercely committed live performances, a long residency at Antone’s and his work as a founding member of the wildly theatrical Asylum Street Spankers.

Equally commanding on guitar, harmonica and musical saw, he can move from a quiet, sharply written story song to a full-throttle blues performance without losing the thread.

Forsyth has earned multiple Austin Music Awards, released an extensive catalog of original music and toured throughout the United States and Europe, sharing stages with artists including Ray Charles, B.B. King, Robert Cray, Dr. John and Lucinda Williams. Decades into his career, he remains a singular Austin performer: funny, intense, thoughtful and nearly impossible to categorize.
