Grateful Shred

Grateful Shred is a Los Angeles–based Grateful Dead cover and jam band that rose from Shakedown Street parking-lot gigs outside Dead & Company shows into a nationally touring act with a laid-back, harmony-driven take on the Dead catalog. Founded in 2016 when Austin McCutchen and Dan Horne pulled friends into a residency, the project channels wide-open guitar tones, three-part vocals, and choogling grooves without stiff museum tribute energy.

The touring lineup has featured McCutchen (vocals/guitar), Horne (bass, pedal steel, vocals), Mikaela Davis (vocals), Adam MacDougall (keys), John Lee Shannon (guitar), and Corey Rose (drums), among others—players steeped in California jam and indie scenes. They spin deep cuts and staples into high-energy two-set nights for Shredheads across the U.S. Expect Dead-rooted jams and easy chemistry when Grateful Shred hits theaters and club stages.
