Gordy Quist

Gordy Quist is an Austin-based guitarist, singer, songwriter and producer best known as a founding member of The Band of Heathens. Raised in Houston, Quist moved to Austin in 2004 and became part of the city’s collaborative singer-songwriter scene. The Band of Heathens emerged after Quist, Ed Jurdi and Colin Brooks began sharing performances and backing one another’s songs, eventually developing into one of Austin’s most enduring roots-rock groups.

As a guitarist, Quist favors expressive, song-centered playing over unnecessary flash. His work blends Americana, country, blues, soul and rock and roll, supporting his thoughtful lyrics and relaxed, weathered vocals. Alongside Jurdi, he remains part of The Band of Heathens’ central songwriting and creative partnership, helping guide the group through years of recording, international touring and independent growth.

Quist has also released solo music and built an extensive career as a producer, songwriter and session musician. His credits include work with artists such as Jason Eady, Adam Carroll and Chris Brecht, reflecting his deep connection to Texas songwriting and roots music. Whether performing with the Heathens, appearing solo or working behind the scenes, Gordy Quist brings warmth, restraint and strong storytelling instincts to every project.
