Garrett Jay Brown

Garrett Jay Brown is one of those Austin artists who effortlessly moves between soulful singer-songwriter, retro soul, groove, rock, and Americana without sounding tied to any one genre. Originally from Panama City, Florida, Brown grew up immersed in his parents' record collection, developing an appreciation for classic soul, rock, blues, and vintage pop that still shapes his songwriting today. After studying music at Troy University and fronting the rock band The Matters, he relocated to Austin in 2015, where he quickly became a familiar face on the city's live music circuit while also building a reputation as a songwriter and producer.

What makes Garrett Jay Brown stand out is his ability to pair thoughtful, melodic songwriting with an engaging stage presence. His performances shift naturally from intimate acoustic storytelling to energetic full-band sets filled with soulful vocals, groove-driven rhythms, and classic rock influences. In addition to his solo work, he's written and produced music for other independent artists, showcasing a versatility that extends well beyond the stage. Whether playing breweries, wineries, listening rooms, or Austin's neighborhood music venues, Brown brings an authentic, easygoing style that resonates with audiences looking for musicianship as much as entertainment. His blend of roots music, retro soul, and modern songwriting has earned him a loyal following throughout Central Texas and continues to make him a favorite on the Austin live music scene.
