Franz Ferdinand

Franz Ferdinand are the Glasgow indie rock / post-punk revival band formed in 2002—Alex Kapranos, Bob Hardy, and later lineup shifts around Nick McCarthy, Paul Thomson, Julian Corrie, Dino Bardot, and Audrey Tait. Debut single Take Me Out became a global dance-punk anthem (UK No. 3, Grammy-nominated); self-titled debut won the 2004 Mercury Prize and Best British Group Brit Award heat. You Could Have It So Much Better, Tonight, Right Thoughts Right Words Right Action, and later cycles kept art-school Russian avant-garde aesthetics and angular guitars packing festivals. Signature song still defines early-2000s indie radio while live sets stay sharp, stylish, and dance-floor mean.
