Evan Charles

Evan Charles has spent more than a decade at the center of Austin’s songwriter ecosystem—fronting Altamesa (the cosmic Americana project he started after meeting Sean Faires at Hole in the Wall in 2012, per Austin Monthly), writing with The Letdown Band, and building a solo catalog that refuses one lane. Multi-instrumentalist first: guitar, keys, percussion, and a voice Americana Highways heard as wholly unique on the cinematic Echoes at Dawn.

Between Two Worlds (2023) was the formal solo debut; Echoes at Dawn (2025), co-produced with throwback electric guitars and keys, is the heavier emotional document—“Wrong Reasons,” “Lost in the Dark,” and the title track’s official video. KUTX has hosted him for Stream Pick features and calendar heat. On a Tuesday duo night or full-band LP celebration, Charles treats residency rooms as laboratories: heartland rock muscle, folk-rock patience, and the Austin habit of writing new songs between sets.
