Ephraim Owens Group

Ephraim Owens Group is the Austin jazz vehicle of Dallas-born trumpeter and flugelhornist Ephraim Owens—Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts alum, Roy Hargrove–inspired, with classical studies at Weatherford College and Southwest Texas State before going full-time in Austin (1996). Eight Austin Music Awards, 2017 Hall of Fame induction, and best-horn-player polls mark him as the city’s Miles-adjacent trumpet icon. He spent a decade with Tedeschi Trucks Band (Live from the Fox Oakland, Signs, I Am the Moon) and has recorded with Reckless Kelly, Jimmie Vaughan, and others—then returns home for Elephant Room–scale jazz with freedom of structure and composition staples like MoMoCi.
