Dr. James Polk's CENTERPEACE

A live performance by Dr. James Polk’s Centerpeace is a vibrant, masterfully executed celebration of Texas jazz history that completely commands the room. Guided by pianist Morris Nelms and a stellar lineup of horn and rhythm players, the ensemble delivers a high-energy show built entirely around the late "Godfather of Austin Jazz's" massive library of original charts. Audiences are treated to the intricate harmonies and tight hard-bop rhythms that defined Dr. Polk’s legendary 50-year career, seamlessly blending disciplined group precision with fiery, improvisational solos. It is a deeply immersive musical experience that feels both intensely reverent of its roots and electrifyingly alive, demonstrating how Dr. Polk’s artistic genius and signature groove continue to thrive through the tight-knit band he left behind.
