About
Christopher Seymour is a South Carolina-born honky-tonk singer now working the Texas circuit, where his old-school country sound has found a natural home in Austin’s dance halls, roadside bars and two-step rooms. Backed by The Western Cosplay, Seymour plays what he calls down-home honky-tonk: baritone guitar, hard country rhythm and songs steeped in the whiskey-stained standards of country music’s golden era.
There is nothing slick or radio-polished about the approach. Seymour’s music leans into dancehall dusters, saloon songs and straight-ahead country built for moving across a wooden floor. His shows have turned up at Austin rooms including Sagebrush, The White Horse and the Continental Club, placing him squarely inside the city’s current traditional-country revival.
Though based in Houston rather than Austin proper, Seymour fits comfortably alongside the younger Texas acts keeping honky-tonk music rough-edged, regional and connected to the dancers in front of the stage. He is less interested in reinventing country than in playing it correctly—with twang, restraint and enough grit to keep the room lively.
