Chris Max

Chris Max isn't the kind of Austin musician who lives in one lane. Since making Austin his home in 2003, he's built a career on saying yes to just about every musical challenge imaginable. Guitarist, vocalist, horn player, live sound engineer, bandleader—he's spent decades becoming the guy who can step onto nearly any stage and make the music work.

Whether leading MaxBand, performing solo, or singing with VoxBox Vocal Band, Max draws from a lifetime of influences that stretch from hard rock and funk to gospel, jazz, country, and classic rock.

Before Austin, his musical path carried him across the Southeast, the Pacific Northwest, and even Japan, experiences that helped shape his broad musical vocabulary and adaptable stage presence.

Rather than chasing a single genre, Max embraces them all, approaching every performance with the instincts of a seasoned entertainer who's equally comfortable playing a planned show or jumping into an impromptu jam. It's that versatility—and a genuine love of performing—that has kept him a fixture on Central Texas stages for more than two decades.

For Chris Max, music isn't just a profession; it's the only one he's ever wanted.
