Chris Beall

About

West Texas-born Chris Beall is an Austin singer-songwriter, guitarist and producer whose catalog connects the open-road storytelling of Texas country with roots rock, blues and classic pop craft. The son of a motorcycle racer, Beall brings that same fascination with machines, movement and worn-in Americana to songs about home, distance, regret and starting over.

His solo releases include Brand New World, The Gin Mill Hymns, Abilene and the concert collection Live in Waco. Songs such as “A Letter to Myself,” “Sonny” and “A Year of Decembers” reveal a writer who favors specific characters and lived-in details over easy country clichés. The Gin Mill Hymns also gained airplay across Texas roots, Americana and roots-rock radio.

Beall is also a key creative force in the South Austin Moonlighters, contributing lead guitar, vocals, songwriting and studio expertise. The band recorded its 2016 album Ghost of a Small Town in Beall’s home studio before later working with producers Anders Osborne and Steve Berlin. Whether performing solo or with the Moonlighters, Beall represents the craftsman side of Austin music: sharp songs, expressive guitar work and no need for manufactured swagger.
